October 2014 Synthegis® Pursuing Grant through National Institute of Justice

Synthegis® is working on an innovative, geo-spatial solution to support the fight against crimes against women on college campus.   As the mother of a daughter, CEO/President, Anita Fourcard wants to work to help young women have a positive college experience.  “We believe geo-spatial technology can complement the mission of university law enforcement to combat this problem.” 


June 2014 Synthegis® CEO Launches Mobile Library at Loaves and Fishes Meal Program to Support the Homeless. 

Synthegis® CEO, Anita Fourcard arrived to volunteer to serve meals.  In February, on this fateful first date at Loaves and Fishes, she identified a greater need.  The Loaves and Fishes program began as an outgrowth of St. Stephen and the Incarnation Episcopal Church’s practice in the mid-1960s of providing meals after Sunday services. When hungry non-churchgoers began to appear in considerable numbers, the congregation launched a meals ministry and named the program Loaves and Fishes after the miracle described in the gospels.   “As I watched the clients waiting for the meal to be served, I thought there must be something more I can do”, said Anita Fourcard, CEO/President.   Hence, the mobile library concept came into existence.  “It has been a rewarding endeavor.  At first clients were reluctant to approach the table filled with free books.  Now, I have standing requests and am affectionately referred to as the “Book Lady.” “

January 2014 Synthegis® Receives Certificate of Eligibility to Participate in the VDOT Small Business Enterprise Program

 The Virginia Department of Transportation has approved Synthegis® Inc. for participation in the VDOT Small Business Enterprise Program.  The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT), in accordance with the requirements of the U.S. Department of Transportation 49 CFR Part 26, Section 26.39, has developed a VDOT Small Business Enterprise Program (VSBEP) to ensure that Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBEs) and Small, Women and Minority-owned (SWaM) businesses have a maximum opportunity to participate on federally-assisted projects.   “We welcome any opportunity to expand our business and facilitate employment of Virginia residents through new business opportunities.  We appreciate VDOT offering additional support to small, disadvantaged firms trying to make inroads into the transportation sector” said, Anita Fourcard, CEO/President.


December 2013  Synthegis® Received Third Party Certification by USWCC as EDWOSB firm

Under the federal Economically Disadvantaged Woman Owned Small Business companies seeking certification may either self-certify, or be certified by an independent third party.  Synthegis® pursued the stringent requirements of independent third party certification by the U.S. Women’s Chamber of Commerce.  The U.S. Women's Chamber of Commerce is an authorized 3rd party certifier for the federal WOSB and EDWOSB programs. 


September 2013 - Synthegis® Certified by VA Department of Transportation as DBE Certified to Provide GIS Training

In another expansion into new markets, Synthegis® will offer GIS Training Services to public and private sector clients.   Dr. Sergei Andronikov has joined the Synthegis® team to lead this initiative.  As a well-respected professional in GIS and Geospatial Technology, Dr. Andronikov effectively operated two GIS Centers within local government, private businesses and academic environment in two US states, implementing Enterprise GIS/IT solutions, managing Geospatial projects, serving local, regional, federal governments, private agencies and local community providing GIS services.  As a Geospatial Faculty, Leader of Geospatial initiative at APSU and GMU, he built up two academic Graduate Programs on GIS Technology, and completed several GIS-related applied research projects.  As a Senior Geospatial Administrator in academic environment strategically planned, implemented, organized, supervised the Geospatial operation, successfully procure funding, outreach Government, private sector and the community at large. “Dr. Andronikov and I met early in my company’s history.   I have respected his knowledge and insight into GIS technology ever over the last seven years” said CEO/President, Anita Fourcard.  “We look forward to collaborating to bring training opportunities to multiple client segments.”

April 2013 Synthegis® Receives 100% Contractor’s Employee Safety Score by VDOT

In an unscheduled evaluation of our safety procedures, Synthegis® employees received a 100.00% Contractor’s Employee Safety Score and a 100.00% General Provisions Score.  This score, determined by a Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) representative, found our work to be satisfactory and that requirements and compliance with the special provisions and the Department’s current survey manual to be met.

August 2012, Synthegis® CEO Participates in Roundtable Forum with SBA Presidential Appointee from the Obama Administration

Dr. Winslow Sargeant is the sixth Chief Counsel for Advocacy of the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Office of Advocacy, appointed by President Obama August 19, 2010 met entrepreneurs at Teqcorner in an open forum to discuss the challenges faced by small and mid-size businesses.  The participants addressed research and development concerns; access to capital and the challenges faced in contracting with the government.

 

March 2012 – Synthegis® Secures Third Party Certification from the U.S. Women's Chamber of Commerce as an: Economically Disadvantaged Women- Owned Small Business (EDWOSB)

The WOSB Federal Contract Program was implemented in February 2011 with the goal of expanding the number of industries where WOSB were able to compete for business with the federal government.  This program enables Economically Disadvantaged WOSBs (EDWOSBs) to compete for federal contracts that are set-aside for EDWOSBs in industries where women-owned small businesses are underrepresented.   It also allows set-asides for WOSBs in industries where women-owned small businesses are substantially underrepresented. 

 

November 2011 Synthegis®’ CEO organizes Veterans Day Panel Discussion and Book Drive to Support the Books on Bases Program at Walter Reed, BlueStar Families of Maryland

Synthegis® CEO organized a program of awareness and support for veterans and their families.  “This is a cause near and dear to my heart.  My father was in the Korean War while serving in the U.S. Navy.  I think the country forgets about our veterans.  Unlike during my parents’ generation when the wars affected larger percentages of Americans, today those percentages of family member touched by the wars are smaller, but no less important.”  Our panel discussion will focus on experiences of veterans of wars from WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan.  The moderator and journalist in the Defense sector will be Sydney Freedberg, Jr.  In addition, CEO/President, Anita Fourcard is conducting a book drive utilizing drop boxes at public libraries to support the Blue Star Families, Books on Bases Program at the New Walter Reed.

 

Synthegis Passes Annual Review for DBE/MBE Status

August 2010 -- Synthegis®, Inc. a minority, woman-owned, controlled and operated firm was reviewed and given continued approval by the Virginia Department of Minority Business Enterprise (DMBE) as a Disadvantaged Business Enterprise/Minority Business Enterprise (DBE/MBE).

In its annual review of certified companies, the Virginia Department of Minority Business Enterprise found Synthegis® continues to meet the requirements governed by the Federal Regulations in 49 CFR 26 and 23.

The Federal Disadvantaged Business Enterprise program exists for companies that are doing business in the Transportation Sector and are looking to win contracts which are funded by Federal dollars from the US Department of Transportation.

 

June 2010, Synthegis® CEO Attends Small Business Federal Contracting Forum:

On April 26, 2010, President Obama issued a Presidential Memorandum establishing an Interagency Task Force to develop proposals and recommendations for enhancing the use of small businesses in Federal contracting, including businesses owned by women, minorities, socially and economically disadvantaged individuals, and service-disabled veterans of our Armed Forces.

The Small Business Administration (SBA), the Department of Commerce (DOC), and the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), who serve as co-chairs of the Task Force, invite interested parties from both the public and private sectors to offer their views on the challenges small businesses face in pursuing federal contracts, on best practices for overcoming these challenges, and on increasing small business participation in the Federal marketplace. CEO Fourcard spoke of the barriers to entry for the mentor-protege programs and breaking into the established network of large government contractors.

 

New Employees for 2010

Synthesis® Inc. Selected as Subcontractor for U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Project

December 2009- Synthegis®, Inc. has been selected as a subcontractor for a major U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Project at Fort A.P. Hill.

Synthegis®was selected by the URS Corporation to perform professional land surveying. Synthegis® has also provided technical input on GIS related matters for this project and for the endeavor.

Synthegis®Professional Land Surveying team brings a combined 68 years of experience. Synthegis®GIS team brings a combined 35 year of geo-spatial expertise in the government and commercial sectors.

 

October 2009 – Synthegis® Launches Land Surveying Services

Synthegis®, Inc. a leading provider of Geo-spatial Intelligence Solutions (GIS) has launched a Construction Land Surveying Division.  These services will be provided under the company’s approved Federal/VDOT DBE and SWaM Certification Program.  “It is a perfect extension of our current service offering because CAD software is a pre-cursor to Geo-spatial technologies and the perfect complement of our service offering” said, CEO/President, Anita Fourcard.

 

August 2009  Synthegis® Expands into Professional Land Surveying Services:  

Synthegis®, Inc., a minority, woman-owned, controlled and operated firm announced the launch of its professional land surveying services.  Synthegis® team of licensed, professional surveyors brings a combined 68 years of industry experience to projects.  With this endeavor, “we will pursue federal stimulus spending opportunities through our bids for VDOT related projects” said CEO/President, Anita Fourcard.

The certifications expire in 2012.

 

Avis Budget Group Takes Interest in Synthegis® Products, Services

WASHINGTON, DC, October 1, 2008 – Synthegis,® Inc. executives met with a major car rental chain on Sept. 30 to discuss the company’s use of Synthegis®’ location-based services.

Gerald Insall, chief technology officer of Avis Budget Group, said the meeting was constructive and that his company was looking to expand services outside of its traditional market. Mr. Insall commented further that Synthegis®’ strategic decision-making tool, EyeShot® -- that exposes geographic relationships to a broad group of managers and executives across a corporation such as Avis Budget -- was worthy of careful consideration.

 

Synthegis® Re-Certified by WBENC

Washington, DC, Nov. 15, 2008 – Sythnegis®,Inc., has been re-certified by the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC), retroactive to September 25th, 2008.

The Women's Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC), dedicated to advancing the success of Corporate Members, was founded in 1997. WBENC is the largest third-party certifier of businesses owned controlled, and operated by women in the United States. WBENC, a national 501(c)(3) non-profit, partners with 14 Regional Partner Organizations to provide its national standard of certification to women-owned businesses throughout the country. WBENC is also the nation's leading advocate of women-owned businesses as suppliers to America's corporations.

The WBENC certification for women-owned businesses is one of the most widely recognized and respected certifications in the nation. This certification enables Synthegis to continue to use Council resources to market its technology to a wide-variety of customers large and small.

 

MWAA Explains Rules for Small Business Participation

Washington, DC, Nov. 5, 2008 – Synthegis®, Inc., was in attendance at the 18th Annual Business Opportunity Seminar (BOS), a major Northern Virginia conference with the goal of explaining how small businesses can secure major service contracts at Dulles International and Washington Reagan National airports.

Any contractor seeking to do business with the airports must first obtain a Virginia State Contractors License to do so. In the case of information technology, requests for proposals for contracts are sent to the IT department of the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority (MWAA) procurement office.

According to MWAA executive Frederick Seitz Jr., manager of its procurement and contract department “Operations managers are key to LDBE businesses because they have the best insight into the system of (awarding) engineering contracts”, he told BOS attendees.

Seitz said that as MWAA expenditures on the massive capital improvement program at Dulles International and Washington Reagan National Airports begin to slow, the Authority will shift its focus to concessions and goods and services for the next 12-month period.

 

April 2008  Synthegis® Certified  as SWaM Firm:  

Synthegis® has been certified as a Small, Woman, and Minority-owned (SWaM) vendor by the Virginia Department of Business Assistance as SWaM vendor in 2008.  “This designation is important to us.  It tells our prospective clients that we are a legitimate minority, woman-owned, controlled and operated firm” said CEO/President, Anita Fourcard

 

February 15, 2008 - Synthegis launches its redesigned website, http://www.synthegis.com. The redesign improves the site's usability and features enhanced content, graphics and demos.

 

February 4, 2008 - Synthegis today announced the launch of its decision tool, EyeShot® 1.0. Development of EyeShot® was driven by the desire to help corporations visually “see” the geographic component of their location-based business information. EyeShot® customizes geographic catchment areas to provide updated analysis and relevant forecasts that reflect what is really happening in and around a specific retail location. Synthegis anticipates working with major retailers for the beta test environment.

 

President Anita Fourcard commented, "EyeShot® 1.0 provides a consistent, rich user experience that enables companies to move easily between tables and maps to leverage existing GIS and location data. With Synthegis unique data collection methodology, major retailers will now be able to “see” local markets in a completely new way."

 

December 10, 2007 - Synthegis is pleased to welcome Brian Bazer to its management team as Vice President of Retail Operations. With more than 20 years of experience, Brian brings extensive retail knowledge to Synthegis. Brian was formerly the director of performance management for Best Buy, where he helped establish its Customer Segmentation Transformation initiative. He has also held operational management positions with several retail chains including Sam Goody, IKEA and JC Penney.

 

December 2007 - Synthegis contributed to the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) inaugural online Power Lunch Auction, which raises money to support WBENC programs in which women business enterprises participate. Synthegis submitted winning bids for Power Lunches with both the Avis Budget Group and the Chevron Corporation.

 

September 25, 2007 – Synthegis is officially certified as a Women’s Business Enterprise by the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC). WBENC is the nation’s leading third-party certifier of businesses owned and operated by women, and the leading advocate of women’s business enterprises as suppliers to corporations and government associations.

 

April 16–18, 2007 – Synthegis is an official sponsor of the 2007 Location Intelligence Conference in San Francisco. In its fourth year, the conference focuses on the convergence of location technology among enterprise IT solutions, geographic information systems and mobile location-based services.
